The latest - made in Nashville, TN, with my US touring-band friends. Making this record was a spur of the moment decision and one of the most relaxed and fun recording experiences I've ever had. We recorded most of the record live, playing together in the same, small room - so small that we used Neilson's car, parked outside the door as an isolation both for the guitar amp. This may be the most intimate sounding of the lot. Hope you like it.

I recorded "Rise" with Bill Bottrell in his studio up in Mendocino. It is a magical place. A lot of these songs were written while I was there recording with Bill and Brian and Birdie, who played on the record. Writing with a band was a first for me. One of my favorite songs, "A Place Called Home", is on this record. I remember it was a first-taker and I got so caught up in the song that I almost blew it by getting choked up. This is one of my most favorite records.

One foot in New York and the other in London - that's how this one got made. I felt like I had to do something to shake myself up. It was scary and exciting to make a record so far out of my comfort zone. In a way, these songs were more personal than the first couple of records.

I was fortunate enough to be able to round-up a gang of very talented friends for this one. All the guys in the touring band played on the record and we played a lot of these songs live before recording the album. I think that gives it a more lived-in feel. These are still some of my favorite songs to sing.

My very first record, produced by the wonderful Richard Bennett. I remember listening to it in finished form for the first time on the drive back from Memphis (where we mixed the record) to Nashville. The beautiful guitar intro to "Those Words We Said" kicked in just as I was going up the ramp onto I-40. It is still one of my most favorite pieces of music. Thanks, Richard.
